WI-09: Small Windows Utilities ----------------------- 3349 Archive Management Small Programs Disk ----------------------- CCIZip 1.0 Creative Consortium Inc. $25 works as a front-end to PKWare and McAfee utility programs, allowing you to unZip files and check them for viruses without having to shell to DOS. CCIZip supports all of the PKWare and most of the McAfee options. PKZip (#1705) and McAfee's Scan (#7397) are required. Del@Zip (DELZIP) Compu Pro Services $10 lets you select a Zip file and delete files in the same directory that are in the Zip file. Intended for cleaning up directories after dearchiving a file. Drag & Zip and ZipView 2.40 (DRAGZIP) 08-93 CD Baumbach, Dan ASP $25 enhances the use of PKZIP. You can drag files from File Manager and drop them on D&Z which will then use PKZIP on them to compress them into Zip files. Requires Win31 and PKZIP. Zip View will show you the contents of the Zip file. You can view files, run programs, delete files and extract any file or group of files from the Zip file. Easyback (EASYBAK) lets you compress a directory using PKZIP and copy it to a floppy just by clicking on an icon. Although the maximum size is 1.2 megs, using PKZIP instead of XCOPY can greatly reduce the number of floppies required to back up files. Freeze! 1.0 REEVEsoft $10 is a file compression utility for Windows. This is not a shell to an external utility, but an actual Windows application. It is not particularly speedy, but it does fully support Window's non-premptive multi-tasking capabilities and has four different priority settings. You can selectively add or extract files from an archive, and it allows you to view the contents of an archive with time, date, and compressed/uncompressed file sizes. Image 1.0 Mandic, Aleksandar $10 creates an image of an entire floppy disk in an archive on your hard disk. LHAWin 1.0 Bennett, Earl $0 is a point-and-shoot Windows interface to LHA. An extensive help file describes all commands/options in detail. We could not get it to create a self-extracting archive, but all the other options worked. Requires LHA from disk #1862. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #3349 -------------------------------- --------------------------- 3888 Command Line Utilities Small Programs Disk --------------------------- CmdLine 1.0 Mercurio, Michael Jr. $10 allows you to start a DOS or Windows program and supply parameters without the need for a PIF or changes to the program properties. It also allows you to start Windows programs as icons. EditReplay (EDREPLA) Gowani, Irfan $20 provides easy access to previously entered commands for Windows. The program stores text entered in standard Windows' dialog boxes. When in the same or similar box again, you can pop up a list of previous entries, point to one and press Enter to insert it. It does NOT work with data entered in data boxes inside an application, such as an entry made in Cardfile. Fred Ravensbury Software Ltd. $0 allows you to launch a Windows application from the DOS prompt and automatically close down Windows when your application is done, returning you to the DOS prompt. MultiApp 0.9 (MULTIAP) Navas, John II $0 will start multiple applications (Windows or DOS) from the Windows command line. This allows you to add an icon to the Program Manager that will launch more than one application at a time. Options are available to start applications as normal windows or iconized. SmilerShell 1.0 (SSHELL) 09-93 CD Bardon Data Systems $10 is a powerful replacement for Program Managers Run dialog. It allows you to type in commands to run DOS programs, Windows applications, or even DOS internal commands. A command line editor lets you retrieve previous commands, and commands may be saved for later playback. Other features include a fast directory change utility, the ability to assign commands to function keys, a clock/free memory/resource display, and much more. Requires WIN31. WinCLI 3.0 Eschalon Development Inc. $35 gives you a DOS-like operating environment in Windows, for those of you who miss the DOS prompt. You can change directories, run programs and more, just as if you were at the real DOS prompt. Over twenty DOS commands are available including Prompt, MkDir, RmDir, Rename, Del, Dir, Path, and more. Other features include the ability to change fonts and colors, and command line editing with history. WinCommand 1.10b (WN-CMD) 09-93 CD Vesperman, Matthew S. $20 provides a familiar DOS-like command prompt in Windows. It will support several DOS commands from within its own window (DIR, MD, CD, etc.). It can also launch any DOS-based executable files in the path by shelling out to DOS. This is a sure cure for any DOS-prompt retentive Windows users. WinCmd 0.9 (WIN-CMD) Frazier, Robert E. $20 is a command line interpreter for Windows. It emulates many COMMAND.COM functions and allows background copies, task management, enhanced DIR lists, and more. The program runs DOS or Windows programs from the command line. WinRunner 2.0 (WINRUNR) Heath, Ian $? (formerly WinStart) is a stub which causes a Windows application to load Windows when the user tries to execute the app in DOS. It can start Windows, display a message, or work in conjunction with BackMenu (#3545) in 386 mode to start a program under Windows. Also included: GLUE by D. J. Murdoch, which lets you paste the stub into existing programs. GLUE allows you to combine DOS and Windows programs so either version will execute in the proper environment. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #3888 -------------------------------- ------------------- 3352 File Searching Small Programs Disk ------------------- Click! Finder 1.0 (CLIKFND) The TrogloByte $15 is a file finding utility that can search across several drives. Once you have located files, you can call up your editor to view them, delete or rename them, or execute them. You can work with the found file list to compare dates, attributes, sizes, and names, and even perform binary comparisons. File Search 1.0 (FSEARCH) Sax, Mike $19 allows fast and easy file searching in the Windows environment. Multiple drives can be searched and advanced wildcards may be used. The program searches in the background so you can work on other applications. Found filenames can be copied to the clipboard so you don't have to remember them. The File Tool 2.0 (TFT) Erz, Frank $30 allows you to search multiple drives for files and specific text. Wildcards are allowed during searches. Double-clicking on found files brings up a box displaying the name, path, file size, time, date, and attributes of the file. You can then view the file in ASCII or Hex, and clip it's contents to the Clipboard. You can also rename, copy, move, delete, and change attributes of the file just by clicking on the proper icon. Find-It for Windows 3.52 (FINDITW) RME Enterprises $15 is a fast and powerful file search utility that can even find hidden, system, and read-only files. Wildcard searches are supported, and once the program locates a matching file, you can process it by performing an unlimited amount of DOS commands. It supports unlimited file types, and allows multiple masks of filenames. Other features include a search timer, display of file dates according to Windows date format, the ability to display a list of found files as they're found or after the search is completed, support for ARJ/ARC/LHZ/DWC/PAK/ZIP/ZOO archives, self virus checking, and more. Nifty James' File Finder for Windows 1.05 (NJWFIND) Blaszczak, Mike $15 allows you to search your drives for files. Wildcards are supported, and it can also search for files that are stored within common archive formats. ARC, ARJ, DWC, LZH, LHA, PAK, ZIP, and ZOO archive formats are supported. You can optionally get information on found files, and you can run files if they are executable or have their extensions associated within Windows. PsL File & Text Finder (PSLFIND) Ford, Nelson ASP $0 searches a drive for specified file names and/or specified text in files. Wild cards are supported. Matching files are displayed in a List box and may be viewed in Notepad by double-clicking the file name. VBRUN required. Searcher 2.0 (SEARCHR) Cognitronix $22 finds files by name, size, date, or by text in the files. It searches across multiple disks and directories. Wildcards are supported. A list of files found is displayed. You can view files by launching their apps. WinLoc 1.0 Hildreth, R. $10 tells you the location on your hard disk of specified files. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #3352 -------------------------------- ----------------- 4933 File Viewers Small Programs Disk ----------------- FileView 1.14 (FVIEW) Page, William L. $10 lets you browse files of any size in ASCII or hex. Features include an on-screen ruler and text searches. File Viewer 1.0a (FVIEWER) Maze Computer Communications $10 lets you browse the contents of files. It can display files as ASCII, hexadecimal dump, or as raw text with no respect for line ends and other control characters. Other features include word wrap, font support, DDE support, stay on top options, file printing, and more. WnScroll 5.0 (WNSCROL) Domains $20 is a file browser that can accept files of any size. Multiple files can be displayed simultaneously as text or in hex. Other features include text search, automatic detection of best display mode, fast caching technique to minimize disk access, clipboard and printer support, and more. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #4933 -------------------------------- ----------------------- 2997 Keyboard Utilities Small Programs Disk ----------------------- Accent 2.0a pro++ Software $25 lets you input special characters (copyright symbol, accented vowels, etc.) directly from a standard keyboard. It uses a simple two-key combination, and the special characters are available from any Windows application. CCSwap 1.0 Michmerhuizen, David $0 lets you swap the Ctrl and Caps Lock keys under Windows 3.0. DefKey Davis, Verson E. Jr. $0 is a keyboard macro utility. It allows multiple keystrokes to be assigned to function keys and executed from any Windows application. The easy to use syntax allows you to include special characters and commands including Windows Control keys. VBRUN is required. Easy Macro 1.1 (EASYMAC) Wintronix, Inc. $15 allows you to easily record and playback keystroke macros without leaving your application. You hit a single function key to begin recording, the same function key to stop recording, and another function key to play back your keystrokes. HotKey 1.1 (HOTKEYW) Software GT $20 lets you assign program execution to a single keystroke. It also lets you assign three common procedures to function keys: Close Top Window, Maximize Top Window, and Minimize Top Window. If you have already launched a program with Hotkey, hitting the assigned key again will make it the top window. Also included is STARTUP, which will start a Windows program in any directory which then becomes the default (working) directory for that program. KeyNote 1.1 Yocum, Mike $0 lets you adjust the delay time for key repeat. The Control Panel only lets you adjust the repeat rate. Macro Manager 1.5 (MACQ) Ruzicka, John $25 lets you program any number of keystrokes into a two-key macro. You simply use a combination of the slash key (/) followed by any of the 26 letter keys. This can save you lots of time if you have to type in repetitive information. VBRUN300 is required. PsL Pause (PSLPAUS) Ford, Nelson ASP $0 is a Pause button for Windows. The Pause button on the keyboard does not work in Windows, thus the need for this utility. Requires VBRUN. Syswid $0 is a set of Recorder macros to restore the keyboard shortcuts for system menu items. These disappeared in Windows 3 for some unknown reason. For easiest use, add this file to the LOAD= line in WIN.INI. Includes Minimize, Maximixe, and Restore. WinClavier 1.1 (WINCLAV) GDG Systems $30 is a keyboard translation program that allows you to input French characters as text into any Windows application. WinKey 1.0 DataGem Corp. $15 lets you customize your keyboard: make the shift key operate like a typewriter's, permanently lock NUM LOCK on or off, permanently enable or disable SCROLL LOCK, and reverse the functions of the CONTROL and CAPS LOCK keys. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #2997 -------------------------------- --------------------- 12512 Mouse Utilities Small Programs Disk --------------------- Dragger 1.0 Leotti, George $15 lets you do a mouse drag or double-click with single clicks of the mouse. Dragger is designed primarily for people with physical impairments, but it is so fast and easy to use that anyone may wish to use it. Instead of doing a click-drag, for instance, you click the right mouse button, click once on the element to be dragged, and once again on the spot for it to be dragged to. Fast-Paste 1.14 (FASTPST) Nee, Robert F. $10 enhances Window's cut-and-paste interface in a DOS window (ie: not "full screen"). It allows you to use the left mouse button for cutting and the right mouse button for pasting, which is much more convenient than using the Edit menu. This only works in 386 enhanced mode. MousePad 1.0 (MOUSEPD) Custom 'Q' Services $1 allows you to use the mouse (or other pointing device) to type with an on-screen keyboard. It will then copy the text string to the clipboard for pasting into another application. Mouse Odometer 1.0 (M-ODOM) TOGGLE BOOLEANS $0 keeps track of how much mileage you put on your mouse. Distances can be measured in pixels, inches, feet, miles, centimeters, meters, and kilometers. A running total is maintained until you decide to reset the counter. Mouse Warp 1.65 (M-WARP) Toggle Boolean $14 is a powerful multi-purpose mouse enchancement utility. It allows you to change the shape of the mouse pointer to make it more visible, and select either a leftor right-handed pointer. An option is also provided to make the mouse blink after a specified interval of inactivity, so it will be easy to find. Other features include a screen wrap-around function, the ability to move the mouse in any application using the keyboard arrow keys and Control/Alt keys, options to hide its icon, custom blink rates, the ability to immediately execute a screen saver, and more. This is an excellent utility for laptop as well as desktop users. Pos 1.21 (POS-MOU) Feinleib, David $5 shows the cursor's coordinates relative to the whole screen as well as to the active window. It stays in front of other applications, so you can see it while you work. RightOn 2.0 (RIGHTON) McCarthy, Steve $15 allows you to program the right and middle mouse buttons to send virtually any keystroke to the window the mouse is in. Features include the ability to send simulated left mouse double clicks, independent left and right mouse button configuration, and the ability to send keystroke combinations of the Shift/ Alt/Control keys. Requires WIN31. Whiskers 2.6b (WHISKRS) Numbers & Co. $15 lets you press the right mouse button to select default reponses in dialog boxes, just as if you had pressed the Enter key. This avoids the nuisance of either having to reach for the keyboard or move the mouse pointer to the "Ok" box to click the left button. The effect can be toggled off and back on by double clicking on the Whiskers icon. We could not get it to work with some things, such as the "Ok" button when adding a new program in the Program Manager, but it did work in the File Manager. Other features include the use combinations of the Shift/Ctrl keys and mouse buttons to create up to eight different macros, the ability to do a double- click in one click, and simulation of a middle button on two-button mice. This is an excellent time-saving utility. The author of Whiskers, Jan Renfroe, writes regarding the problem with the "Ok" button in PM: "The problem is that some dialog boxes are written such that the mouse has to be in the Dialog box, though not actually on the default button." --------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #12512 --------------------------------- ----------------------- 3146 Printing Utilities Small Programs Disk ----------------------- BarCode 3 of 9 2.0 (BAR3-9) Eclipse Software Programming $25 prints 3 of 9 barcodes on any printer that Windows will support. Features include font selection, up to three-across label printing, save/recall options, and more. VBRUN is required, and VB source code is included. CodePrint 1.10 (CD-PRNT) Micro Software Solutions $25 prints files with many options: portrait or landscape paper orientation, multiple columns, headers and footers, the ability to specify font, style and size, border and column dividers, margin setting, word wrap, drag-and-drop, and more. Requires Windows 3.1. FedEZ 1.2 Fischer, John $5 allows you to create, store, and print Federal Express airbills on a dot-matrix printer. You can create templates for applications which require only a few changes, or start from scratch and build a new form. You will need a supply of Federal Express airbills (revision 1/91 o r 4/91 only), and a printer that is able to set a 5.5" page length. VBRUN is required. Label Ease 3.1a (LABELEZ) Robinson, Anthony J. $15 is a simple label printer for Windows. Cut, copy, and paste functions are supported. PrintClip 1.1 (PRNTCLP) Krumsee, Art $0 lets you print text that you have put in the Clipboard by double-clicking on the PrintClip icon. VBRUN reqd. (VB source code is included.) PRO Labeler 1.32 (PROLABL) Cheng, Chieh $5-$15 is a labeling program that works in works in Windows multi-tasking environment. It prints on 3-1/2" x 15/16" labels, prints 5 lines x 34 characters on each label, supports up to 9 columns, prints the same label up to 99999 times, can use 3 different printer ports, and uses less than 36K of memory. This program contains the PIF and Icon files necessary for installing on Windows 3.0, but will also work on non-Windows supported machines. TextPrint (TXTPRNT) Lapis Software $15 is an ASCII text printing utility. Features include a preview function, access to all printer fonts, clipboard support, and the ability to print files up to one megabyte long. It can collect text from any number of applications and store all of it in a buffer until ready to print. Windows BarCode Generator 1.95 (WBAR) Stellar Technologies $15 generates bar codes (3 of 9, UPC, Postnet, etc) that can be copied to the Windows Clipboard. Once in the Clipboard, you can then paste the barcode into other programs such as Windows Write, Paintbrush, and other Windows programs that can accept bitmaps or metafiles from the Windows Clipboard. #3146 Miscellaneous ------------------- Deskjet 3.01 $0 is used for the defective HP DeskJet driver that would not print accented and other special characters. Print Que for Windows 1.2 (PRNTQUE) Chadbourne, Arthur S. $25 lets you specify a list of documents to be printed rather than waiting for each document to be sent before the next can be specified. Works with Excel and WFW. Support is provided for the Proprinter and two printer ports. VB source code is provided. VBRUN is required. Laser Labels 1.0 (LSRLABL) Evers, Dave $10 lets you create diskette labels on a laser printer. You can print either 3.5" or 5.25" labels using single sheet labels. Font styles and sizes are easily adjusted. You can print custom labels with your own chosen text, or directory listing labels, or a combination of both. You can make each label different or use the same settings and text for each one. Pswitch 1.06 Feinleib, David A. $15 lets you easily switch between an HP LaserJet's HPPCL mode and PostScript cartridge mode. Pulsar 2.0 (PLSR-VB) Tesserax Information Systems $15 switches between the PostScript and PCL modes of an HP LaserJet printer under the Windows environment. You can also access the Control Panel, Print Manger, and Printer Setup via panel buttons. It has the ability to sense the printer driver installed and can also sense the active printer's orientation. VBRUN is required. PS-Drv $0 contains a set of 82 Windows Printer Definition files for PostScript printers. These files allow you to add new PostScript printers, gaining access to all the fonts and paper sizes the printers support and the ability to use correct print areas and screen frequencies. VBBook Scott, Dennis $0 lets you print ASCII text files to an HPLJ printer in booklet format. VBRUN is required. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #3709 -------------------------------- -------------------------- 4856 Printing Utilities #3 Small Programs Disk -------------------------- #4856 Miscellaneous Printing ---------------------------- Chooser Cohen, Derek $0 allows you to quickly select the default Windows printer and change its page orientation without having to go through the Control Panel. As a side benefit, when minimized, the icon shows which printer is the currently selected default. Dumper 3.1 Waltham, N. $0 alows you to dump files which include printer codes directly to the printer. It is intended primarily for printing lengthy output from DOS apps which will not multitask smoothly under Windows. EndPrint 1.00 (ENDPRNT) Feinleib, David A. $15 provides an audible alert when Print Manager is finished printing. It also lets you close Print Manager when it finished. FilePrint 1.51 (FPRNTVB) Kapune, Albert $0 can directly print multiple copies of any plain ASCII file. It can also process a printer-specific PRN file as prepared by WFW, COREL DRAW!, or other program (using the Print-ToFile option). Every installed parallel printer port is supported, and drag and drop is also supported. Requires VBRUN200. Gpaper 1.0 Kelly, Dan $5 prints graph paper on your printer. Options include number of lines per page and number of lines per inch. There is also an option for printing thick divider lines. PrintSwitch 1.3a (PRSWIT) 09-93 CD Haschka, Michael $10 provides a fast and easy way to change your default printer. It will display all currently installed printers on your system as buttons. All you have to do to change printers is click on the desired button. When running as an icon, the caption displays the default selection. It also allows you to quickly access the printer setup section of Control Panel. This is an excellent utility for persons with multiple printers on their systems. Requires VBRUN200. Winprt 1.1 Poellinger, Paul $10 lets you print the Windows screen or Clipboard with the press of a key. Xlabel 2.03 Tenax Software Engineering $35 is an easy-to-use laser label printing program for Windows. It can print from a file or screen input and can use pre-defined or user-defined label specifications. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #4856 -------------------------------- ------------------ 3279 Screen Savers Small Programs Disk ------------------ Blank Now 1.5 (BLNKNOW) Boyd, Craig $8 allows you to instantly activate the Windows 3.1 screen saver by clicking on an icon. It also lets you temporarily disable the screen saver. Blink Blank! 1.0 (BLINKBL) Burgstahler, Max $5 displays a message on your PC while you are away from your desk. It lets you create up to 99 common messages with estimated return times. Visitors can leave you messages. Other features include password protection, default lunch schedules and more. VBRUN is required. Crazy Balls (CRAZYBL) Sokolovsky, Vadim $5 is an entertaining Win31 screen saver module. It displays bouncing colored balls that endlessly ricochet off each other. Dancin' Bears (DBEAR) Feller, Bob $0 is a screen saver module with a bear that dances across your desktop. Requires VBRUN200. Kaleidoscopic Simulation Screen Saver 2.0 (KSSS) Kelly, Dan $5 is a screen saver module for Windows 3.1. Lights Out 1.1 (LIGHTS) Hamilton, Rodney $0 is an excellent little screen blanker. It has no frills except the ability to set delay times between 1 and 20 minutes. A neat little light bulb icon lets you know if it's on by glowing. Monitor Saver 2.0b (MONSAV) Moon Valley Software Inc. $22 is a screen blanking utility. The delay time is configurable from 1 to 99 minutes. You can have an icon bounce around the screen, an icon with the time, a moire pattern, or nothing at all. Movie Time Screen Saver (MTSS) Starlight Software Co. $22 is a unique screen saver for Windows 3.1 that can play full-motion AVI movies. It can also display GIF, PCX, and BMP graphics in a slideshow fashion. It can be customized with passwords, and sound can be toggled on and off. (Requires Microsoft video drivers for AVI animation.) Save Screen Now! (SAVENOW) Data Arts $5 this little utility runs as an icon and lets you invoke the Windows 3.1 screen saver by simply double-clicking on it. It has a stay-on-top option to make it visible when you are running full-screen applications. SpaceFish (SPACEF) Groetzinger, C. $0 is a set space craft displays for use with the popular screen saver FISH! SS 1.5 Wheeler, Tom $0 is a nice little screen saving utility. Delay times can be set between 1 and 999 minutes. An icon is bounced around the screen until mouse or keyboard movement is detected. Source code is included. VidSaver (VIDSAVR) $0 is a screen saver for Windows 3.1. It displays real time video from the Video Blaster card by Creative Labs. Requires Video Blaster hardware, and the Video Blaster MCI overlay driver. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #3279 -------------------------------- --------------------- 4401 Screen Savers #2 Small Programs Disk --------------------- After Dark Control Panel Launcher (ADCPL) New World Software $0 lets you open the After Dark Control Panel from the Windows 3.1 Control Panel. This is geared toward users who run AD with no desktop icon. Corporate Logo Screen Saver 1.4b (CORP-SS) White, Benjamin $8 lets you use any BMP graphic file as a Windows 3.1 screen saver. The selected bitmap will then bounce around the screen at a user-defined speed. Harry's Screen Blanker 3.15 (HSBLANK) Snyder, Harry C. $10 is a customizable screen saver with password security built in. You can modify colors, line frequency, composition, and delay time. It will blank the screen if a DOS program is iconized and active, but won't blank a full screen DOS window. Several different screen blankers are provided, and it will tell you how many times someone tried to enter in a password to unblank the screen. Hot Spot! 1.0c (HOTSPOT) LMDC $4-$15 lets you instantly start or disable the Windows 3.1 screen saver by moving the mouse cursor to a specified corner of the screen. This corrects an odd oversight on the part of Microsoft (screen savers normally have this feature built in). Marquee Selector 1.0 (MARKEY) Worley, Tim $0 lets you store and retrieve up to 25 different messages for the Windows 3.1 Marquee screen saver. Three default messages are also available at the click of a button. It also allows you to blank the screen immediately after selecting a new message. RandScrn 1.0 (RNDSCRN) Feinleib, David A. $16 allows Windows 3.1 to pick a screen saver at random. It can also be configured to automatically change to another screen saver after a certain number of seconds. The program allows you to create a "play list" of screen savers you want to be selected randomly, and lets you select which directory you want to store your screen savers in. It also allows you to select corners of the screen to which the mouse cursor can be moved to make the screen savers active or inactive. SaveNow Data Arts $5 lets you activate the Windows 3.1 screen saver by simply moving the mouse cursor to the upper left corner of the screen. A key feature of this program is it's ability to track time while the program is not running, even if the computer is shut off. Both a DOS version and a Windows version are included, but the Windows version is easier to use. Some basic trouble-shooting information is included, and it is easy to add more of your own, although the menu description threw us off for a while. The menu option is to "Add a File". What it really does is prompt you for information to add to the existing data file. Actually, it may be possible to add an entire file, but the skimpy documentation doesn't cover this at all. Aside from this confusion, we found the program to be very handy and easy to use. Windows Start Program 1.2 (WSP) Nick Hodges $1 lets you fine tune your start-up in Windows 3.x. It allows you to run specific programs on specific days, and a 1to 10-second countdown timer appears when the program is invoked to give you time to change your mind about running a program. M-Watch 1.0 Olson, Jeff $10 shows how much memory a program uses within Windows, and whether or not it is completely freeing that memory upon termination. MS-Logo $0 contains instructions for patching WIN.COM with DEBUG to keep the Windows logo screen from displaying on boot-up. The instructions are easy to follow, and it works for us, but anytime you patch COM files, you do so at your own risk. RealCtrl [Lite] 1.1.3 (RC-LITE) AT-Ware $0 allows you to quickly change many different system parameters usually accessed through the Control Panel. It can turn the warning beep and fast task switch on or off, change the window border width, change the keyboard time delay/speed, adjust icon spacing, alter the screen saver time-out, and more. A zoom option allows you to view a file up to 400 times its original size. DosMono Expert Decisions $20 allows you to run DOS applications on a secondary monochrome monitor under Windows. Palette Gamber, Mark $0 allows you to change the palette of a 16-color or greater VGA adapter. Scroller 1.1 (SCROLLR) Shapiro, Ken $20 displays a scrolling message in a window. Any message can be entered in a command line from a run dialog. SV800 is a Windows 3.0 driver for a "generic" Super-VGA 800x600 16 color mode. The card must support the 800x600 mode at the BIOS level. SV800 is not guaranteed to work with Win386 (ie 386 enhanced mode) it depends whether the standard VGA VDD can deal with the particular card.
